A day out . . .

Hal is home for a few days after a 14 day run.  My job, as I see it, is to get him moving around after spending so many days behind the wheel of his truck.  There were no local letterboxes to find in the short amount of time we had today before we had to pick up our "favourite" grandson.  Don't worry, I tell each of my grandsons that they are my favourite . . . LOL . . .

No letterboxes?  No worries.  We decided to try some other hobbies.  We found our first geocache today using a borrowed GPS.  Yes, we will be looking for advice on what type of hand-held GPS we should buy.
Salt Creek Cemetery

There were no "cistes" close to home but we will try that out next time we have a free weekend.

We joined the geodashing website and found coordinates nearby to check out.  We found GDAO-COAT near Aylmer, ON.

We joined Markeroni which gave me the opportunity to play with my camera.  We logged in Alma College, Jumbo, The Hon. Mitch Hepburn, Salt Creek Cemetery and The Town of Aylmer.

Alma College
And we also tried Waymarking.com.  We visited Jumbo, Barwick Street Bridge, Progression of Town and Rail, Hon. Mitchell F. Hepburn, and Alma College.

I need some quilting help !!!

When I was hand-quilting this quilt I noticed a little spot where the fabric has frayed.  Any suggestions how to fix this little boo boo???

What are you working on?

I am working madly away at a quilt for my dear hubby. He is quite sad because I've made quilts for every other member of our family except him. I hope I'll have it finished by Christmas. I just have a small amount of hand stitching left and then add the binding. In the back left corner of the photo

are my baskets of knitting and crochet--hats, tablecloth, socks, dishcloths. The two pages of tiny typing on the desk is my to do list. My dear hubby made my quilting box from some scraps of wood many, many, many years ago.

So what are you working on?

Trekking in Toronto . . .

Hal had a short layover in Toronto on November 7 so I drove up to spend some time with him . . . letterboxing of course.  Our first find was Spirit of the Forest

We then picked up my son and took him out to breakfast in a little place near Pape Street to celebrate.  Tim always knows how to find an inexpensive breakfast restaurant wherever he lives.  You could tell he was a regular when the staff were all calling him "hon" and they gave him a huge slab of apple pie and ice cream complimentary for his birthday "cake".  We dropped Tim off at work which just happened to be very near High Park.

Ontario Stock Yards.

We had a tricky time finding Grenadier Pond.  Hal had to "accidentally" drop his walking stick a couple of times to locate it . . . LOL . . .

We warmed up with a snack in the Grenadier Restaurant and then I dropped Hal off at work and made the long drive home.

I love letterboxing!  What a great way to spend some time together.

Box ON! 2010: Black-and-Orangeville

We had an amazing time letterboxing in Orangeville, ON this weekend.  Thanks again to Trailfeathers and her crew for all their hard work.  It was especially fun to meet another St. Thomas family that letterboxes . . . Dream!!
Island Lake

I've never even heard of orange lichen.

That way !!

Cameron is very meticulous about re-hiding boxes.

Lunch at the Orangeville Library.

Have a bite of sandwich, make another exchange, another bite of sandwich . . .

Logbooks come in every shape, size and style.

Cameron's favourite dish at the pot luck lunch.

Nothing to do with Box ON! but we saw this on the side of the road on the way home and just had to pull over and take photos.
