The adventure of the trapped hand at Cora's Restaurant

I love Cora's restaurant.  I've only been to the south London location . . . so far.  It is a little pricey but I think it is worth every cent.  The food is always delicious, beautiful and plentiful.  A couple of weeks back we took our grandsons there as a treat.  Everything was great and we had a wonderful time.

And then it was time to pay the cheque and leave . . .

Have you ever noticed that strange things always seem to happen to me?

Yep, once again . . .

Hal and the boys were on the way to the front and I reached for the back of my chair to pick up my jacket.  Our server chose the identical moment to begin clearing the table.  My hand and my jacket were trapped beneath her ample bosom.  I tugged a couple of times, trying to break free.  I said excuse me a couple of times which she ignored.  Hal looked back and asked me if I was coming.  I replied that I would like to if I could get my hand free . . .

I have no idea how she could ignore me.  She must have been day dreaming . . . ???

When she finished gathering the dishes she straightened up and my hand and jacket were finally free.

I am still giggling about this today . . . why do odd things always seem to happen to me?

What happens when some local scrapbookers take over the local Tim Hortons?

A friend suggested a special kind of swap where each person would bring one element for a layout.  I brought white cardstock, others brought buttons, patterned paper, bling and so on . . .

We met at Tim Hortons and the swap turned into a scrapbooking event to create something special from our swap items.

This is what I came up with . . .

Cinnamon Apple Crisp

Makes 4 servings

4 apples, peeled and cut into thin slices
2 tsp sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 cup rolled oats
2 tbsp butter, unsalted
4 scoops vanilla ice cream (optional)

Preheat the oven to 400F.  Butter an oven-safe dish.

Peel the apples, remove and discard the cores, cut them into thin slices.  Arrange the slices in the buttered dish, then sprinkle with the sugar and cinnamon.  Bake in the middle of the oven 12-15 minutes.

During this time, combine the brown sugar, rolled oats, and butter in a bowl.  Using a pastry blender or 2 knives, blend the ingredients until a crumbly pastry mixture forms (about the size of peas).

Take the dish out of the oven, spread the crumbly mixture evenly over the apples.  Bake an additional 15 minutes, until the topping is golden-brown.

Let stand 15 minutes, then serve with vanilla ice cream, if desired.

Woo hoo!! My first knitting finish for March . . .

Isn't this pattern cool?  I especially love the way the variegated cotton shows off the pattern.  Thanks to a special Port Stanley friend who enhanced my stash with a giant bag of worsted weight cotton.

This pattern is called Climbing Colors of Lace by Janet Nogle and the pattern is available at http://monthlydishclothoverflow.blogspot.ca/2014/02/feb-16th-kal-day-5-final.html

Do you know how hard it is for a Canadian to spell colours without a u?  LOL
